Fuck shifting

SO I wanted to build a sick single speed, and I used my Bontrager to do so, this and the previous post have some good pics of it. I got this bike new in 95 or 96, from University Bicycles in Boulder Co where I worked when I was a middle school kid.
ENO rear hub, want the front to match at some point
17 tooth rear sexness of WI rear freewheel EPP from REI thank you very much (Never pay retail!!)
new ENO Cranks!! Got them blacked out with a 34 tooth chain ring for the flat lands out here.
Finally went tubeless, good shit too, can run much lower pressure on these even as a fat kid
Here she is so far. the following list is what I want to upgrade..

Bars, have no name BS bars, want something like the Monkey lite bars (with 30.something clasp)
Fork, have Judy SL, looking for 1 inch SID with longer steertube (email me if you have one)
stem want 140 carbon stem with larger clasp for new bars above.
Front Hub, Blacked out WI ENO Disc hub, XTR is hot but WI ENO matching hubs with front disc would be awesome.
Rear Hub, WI ENO Blacked out, non-flip-flop. Having a bike that can be fixed or free is cool, but it's a little weighty, and really I'd just convert my schwinn s-30 full suspension to the chrome one I have now with the XTR hub up front.... why not :)

YOUR BIKE SUCKS!!!!

OK, so what we have here is one of the final phases of the Bontrager build. as I have enough cash I am prodealing parts from REI. latest is ENO Cranks and White Industries free wheel (17 tooth).

Currently it has the following

Frame     Bontrager Privateer
Fork        Judy SL
Brakes    Avid Single Digit 7's
Wheels   Salsa Semi
F Hub     XTR
R Hub     White Industries Eccentric ENO SS hub
R drive   17 tooth fixed cog and 17 tooth WI freewheel
Chain      XTR 8 speed
Saddle    Time Cromo rails
Post        Bontrager OEM
Stem       Tangle 140mm 15 degree rise
bar          no name low rise
tires        Hutchinson Tubeless Piranha 2.3 (actually measures 2.51)
Other     Stans Tubeless conversion strips and 2 stickers!!!

PanCross

Next project for Mary. I got this bike from a buddies dad back in Colorado, Mary picked up a fork with canti posts, and we are looking for a frame builder that will TIG some rear canti post on the frame, maybe Bob Brown? not sure up for suggestions
This is the TIME from other posts, I love it, but she is hung for the winter, not enough clearance for good enough winter tires. it needs so fit time, and some tuning but all and all one sexy ride. and mom don't worry this one didn't cost as much as it says on the net (about 5500)
Her Time, hotness!! Cross bike, had alot of love this season, enough that it needs to be torn down and gone over, but she still rides to work on this even when the snow is 2+ deep.

These are great hand built carbon bikes, both well under 18 pounds. both race fit bikes. only differences is that I don't race mine! maybe next year.
This is the spare bedroom/shop. we have a few bikes here, about 6. they sleep here, mostly.
more sleeping giants, the fully suspension bikes up front (3 My Fisher, her Cruz, and my SS Schwinn) there is a few road bikes in there somewhere
top view of the loft for guests, and the snowboards and skis that wait for more snow
better pics of the bikes bed and snow,
that me on one foot picking up my 1 dollar pay check

Pics of the projects and apartment

THis is the Jamis winter build with new Time cranks, super heavy bike, super light cranks. still need to get the right spacer for it.
Her Bontrager, got it for her for her birthday, nice bike, she stole the cranks from my Jamis hence the Time crank fitting project,
My Bontrager, unlike Marys this is a true pre-Trek Bontrager. which means 1 inch steertube, and no one makes new forks for it, so the Judy stays. I am going to take it in to B. Rose at shockspital for a rebuild and fat boy overhaul. I just put on some sick White Indy cranks and 17 tooth freewheel for some more bike sex.
hells bells it's the living room. Mary picked all the furnishings, I put up the bikes, and got to pick the TV :)
More living room, we keep the awesome bikes in the living room
one more pic of a better all around view. this is where I will spend most of my winter when I am not at work.

YES

Tonight at 5:30 I will be building the Time!!! it will be rideable no later than friday. will post new pics ASAP. Also the lost jacket was at the Bar, good luck.

in our apt complex we have grocery carts that everybody uses to be lazy and take crap from their car to their apt. Last night Mary (the GF) brought up a ton of crap in one of these carts. turns out some lady in 105 left her wallet in the cart. so like a good guy I rummaged through the wallet to find her ID, so I could return it (I didn't know yet it was 105's wallet). there was a ton of cash, and gift cards, and I cursed myself for being such a boyscout, but I returned it will all of the contents left where they were. Makes me have to believe in Karma, otherwise I am just a chump.

Long weekend

Friday night, drank with the Dirk for the count of one, then Mary, Megan, Katy, and friends. Maintained until we hit the car, and I felt the need to feed the inner fat kid! McDonalds, bad idea. in the process of the night I bought maybe 10 drinks at Drink Bar, all of which were on special, and well somehow had a tab of 90+ dollars. Note to self stop opening tabs, you never know what butt nugget is drink off you for free. On top of that I got a new Kavu jacket in the mail friday at about 6pm, and I lost it in uptown by 10pm. GRRR! called the bars, and you can't even get a real person. Tried to get in my car to go to the bar and try and recover the jacket, but the car wouldn't start. Work on car for 3+hours, get it to start, give up on finding jacket. Godless Dave, and Jack Mormon Lance come over for dinner. Mary made awesome lamb! when she does well at a race I eat well that night, awesome! eat Halloween candy we never handed out, and fall asleep early watching new CSI. as neil put it I am Lame, missed Homie Fall Fest because I was hungover, and didn't ride Murphy at night because I was lazy. it is time to redeem myself this week. no drinking, quitting chewing, and going to try and ride everyday I don't work at REI!!!!

TIME Commuter

AHHH YEA so this is the TIME Phase 2 T minus like 10 parts and some tuning

I am thinking that the Bars are going to be Time bars if I can manage, and by manage, the GF needs to Warranty hers, and I am going to try and get them, all they have wrong is a little piece needs to be glued back on.
I still need brakes, and cables and cable housings, but I think that I am trading a pair of skis for them all. Good trade for the guy getting the skis but good for me if I can get on this beast before the snow hits.
Also I have the older Alloy Campy Record levers brake/shifter pods coming from a David M, bad ass biker great guy! he is rebuilding one of the levers and of course I still owe him 140, but well worth it!
This might just be the coolest commuter bike I will ever build.

I suck at this Bloging so far

So I am getting better at updating, but I still suck at Bloging. so I have decided to keep the Time! it is getting Campy Centaurs Rear D, and Record Front D. Shift/Brake pods are the older non-carbon Record, and I have a E-90 Easton Carbon drop bar for it. Time saddle Time Carbon Seat Post. ummmm oh and a Durace rear Cassette (bought the wheels when I was thinking Sram insted of Campy). so also have 2 Carbon bottle holders. Good stuff!! Pics to follow!

Funny quote

My brothers Gmail status right now is And believe it or not, in every man there's a code written that says, "tackle drunk bitches." I thought everyone should share in the hilarity of that!

SO I wussed out on ridding today. Gotta stop drinking with Dirk. he is in a different league! Still bitter about the Schwinn not fitting me, but thats life. I am also selling my TIME edge first or trying to find someone with a nice cross bike or 29er they want to trade, no takers yet.

I hate Ebay!

So here it is.

I Won a frame on ebay, it was a 98 Schwinn Homegrown Full Suspension Frame that had never been built and had fresh powder coat gray. I will admit when I put in my best offer of 100 bucks I didn't think I had a chance at it as that was less than half his reserve on the item, and I had a few beers and said the hell with it and submitted a 100 dollar offer. well I won the damned thing, checked the dudes feedback (all good) and paid through paypal. I sent a message to the guy, and he messaged back about winning it and that he knew I had paid. 2 weeks went by as I messaged him over and over, and I never got a response. I emailed ebay, they provided me his phone number, called numerous times and finally got him to answer after I blocked my number. the guy sounding like he had followed a fart through a bucket full of nails. He then told me that he had been in a bad car crash and was just getting back to work after being in the hospital. I felt bad said I understood and told him I really wanted the frame. He told me he would send it out ASAP, and then email me the tracking information. that was 2 weeks ago. that son of a Biscuit never emailed me anything. I have called and written emails and ebay messages, and finally opened a claim with PayPal. so I was broken hearted and then I saw a craigslist add for an older schwinn S-40. same frame setup same geometry, and the full bike was for 25 bucks. Emailed got it and the pics here are what it looks like after I cut off the fat and made it a single speed. it's about 1/4 cool of the Homegrown but it's a little win for me, and I have seen 4 or 5 of the same bike go for over 300 today, and I got it for 25 bones!!!
